Hooters was appropriately incorporated on April Fool’s Day, 1983, when six businessmen with absolutely no previous restaurant experience got together and decided to open a place they couldn’t get kicked out of. Soon after, on October 4th of that year, the doors to the first Hooters Restaurant opened in Clearwater, Florida.

Originally from Illinois, I relocated to Florida and have been a State Farm agent since 1985.  My team and I are ready to assist you and your family.  We are located in North Tampa, just north of the University of South Florida (GO BULLS!) and proudly serve Tampa and its surrounding communities.

Subsequently Mahaffey has built a 382 unit apartment community in West Melbourne, The Carlton of West Melbourne, and a 442 unit apartment community in Fort Myers, The Carlton of Fort Myers, which completed construction in 2022. Their newest development is currently in Winter Haven on Lake Dexter, it is a 561 unit apartment community which will be called The Carlton of Lake Dexter.
